FINALLY!!!!

I cannot even begin to tell you how badly I have needed it to NOT BE winter (shiver, gag reflex) anymore! Today was probably the happiest I have felt for quite a while. Thank you SUNSHINE, for finally coming out.... and staying out!

I had a great day with Kaden outside. We went on a long walk and he rode on his scooter while I pushed Colton in the stroller, we went and played at the park with a bunch of little boys and they pretended to be puppies, we went and got lunch at Wendy's (gotta love those Frostie's) and ate outside.

Then we went to Zurchers to pick out what kind of birthday party that he wanted to have. Of course, he picked Toy Story! Love that kid! :) I hope that this warm, sunny weather continues.

I love being a mom!

As I am sitting here with my little boys I am feeling overwhelmed by how fast times goes by. I was on my facebook and I was looking through my old video's and pictures of Kaden. I had forgotten about those memories until I watched them and then it felt like it just happened and I remembered everything. It makes me sad, I think the best time of life is when your children are little but it seems like that is the time that goes by the fastest. I feel like Colton was just born, but he is almost 3 months old now. I am going to make it a goal of mine to treasure everyday, savor every moment and cherish every memory, even the not so good ones. I am going to be the best mom that I can be, no more slacking off, no more I am too tired, no more "wait just a minute".  I want my children to have the best memories of their childhood, so if that means building 150 train tracks a day, watching Wall-E 10 times in a row, taking them out in the freezing snow to play, watching them jump off the bed 50 times because they keep saying "mom watch this" over and over, letting them wear their favorite PJ's out of the house because they really want to (Ugh!), reading them 7 books at bedtime, going back into their room 70 times at bedtime because they keep coming up with more "needs" so they can stay up longer, then I will do it! And I will do it with smile. :) I love my boys so much and I am so happy to be their mom. I am excited to watch them grow up. (I just wish it wasn't so fast!)

Prepare yourself, this is a long one!

Wow! This past month has been quite a roller coaster ride. We have had some fun experiences and some scary one's. Let's just start from the beginning. We went over to Matt's parent's house for the Super Bowl (let's be honest though, I did not watch it!) and it was a lot of fun to spend time with the whole family. We had a  lot of good food (that is what I was really interested in!) and Kevin and I had a good time commenting on every single picture on Matt's Facebook..... "Right?". LOL.

On the 10th I took Kaden in to see his doctor because he had a really bad cough and was complaining that his throat "horted". He insisted on wearing his Buzz Lightyear PJ top and it was so cute watching him pretend to be Buzz while we were there. He did so good standing on the scale and getting measured (we told him that Buzz would do it!). He weighed 29 lbs and was 3 foot 1 inch tall. Then we found out that he had croup.... poor guy! :( We couldn't really do anything for him, we just had to let it run it's course. But the doctor told me that taking him outside at night would help him to breath better, so that night at 4 a.m. I took him out on the freezing cold steps and held him for almost an hour because he could not stop coughing. The things we mother's do for our children. :) A few days later Colton started to get a weird cough, and was acting very lethargic, so we took him in to the insta care on the 13th. He had RSV. When the doctor told me that I almost died. I have only heard horrible things about RSV and he was only 6 weeks old. So they suctioned his nose (saddest thing I have ever seen) and told me to take him back to see Dr. Erickson the next morning. For the next to days I was going up to that office twice a day for him to be suctioned, I was not sleeping at all because I was paranoid that he would stop breathing and I was still taking care of sick Kaden. I was EXHAUSTED!! So I finally broke down and that is when they decided that it would be a good idea to admit Colton into the hospital. He was needing to be suctioned so often and his numbers were getting lower. So I took him to the Riverton Primary Children's and watched my little baby get hooked up to machines and monitors and prayed that we would not have to be there long. Well, we were. Colton ended up being there for 6 days. Those were 6 of the most emotional, frustrating, scary, sad, happy, boring, lonely days of my life. He was being suctioned (they stick a long tube down his nose into his throat and suck out all of the snot, for the lack of a better word) every 3 hours and it was the saddest thing to watch. We called him the "Cement Boogar Factory" ha ha because he made A LOT of really thick boogs. He was put on oxygen because when he would sleep he would pretty much stop breathing, and he ended up needing it all the time cause he was having a hard time breathing when he was awake, too. But the nurses there were amazing and I will never forget them. They loved Colton and loved to come in and hold him. There was one nurse named Cory that just loved to cuddle Colton and he even asked me if he could feed him for me at night... I did not object ha ha. But he was so helpful and gave me a lot of pep talks. He was awesome. I also loved Katie, Brian and Cameron.  I got to know them all quite well because I never left that place and I wanted to make some friends so I didn't go insane! :)

One day Chani and my grandma pulled an intervention and kicked me out so I could go and see Kaden. It was hard to leave, but I did. Kaden and I had a lot of fun and it was cute to see how excited he was to see me. I took him to Walmart and got him a new car toy and then he requested to go and see "colken". When we got to the hospital we were getting out of the car and the wind was so strong that it blew away a Cookie Monster balloon that Kaden wanted to give Colton. Let's just say that memory is one that Kaden will never forget. He could not stop talking about how cookie monster "blowid away". So cute. And on the last night that I was there he and Matt came and brought me some cake and I met them out at the truck. He told me to "sit down, mom!" so I did and then he looks at Matt and said "DRIVE DAD!" like he was trying to kidnap me. He just missed his mommy! :) I love him so much. Finally on the 21st I got to bring Colton home. I have Heavenly Father and all of our friends and family to thank for that. They all prayed and fasted for Colton to get better on Sunday and my dad and Steve gave him a blessing. Prayer works, and so do blessings. Coming home was weird, but it was good to be back. I missed Matt and Kaden a lot. They are both feeling better now and things are pretty much back to normal. SIGH OF RELIEF!!

Kaden had his first dental appointment on Feb.24 and he did so good. He let them clean and count his teeth with out any fighting (I was completely surprised!) and he even let the dentist clean his Buzz Lightyears teeth. After we were done there I took him to Barnes & Noble so that he could play with the Thomas train set and then we ate a brownie at the cafe. He is getting so big. I love spending time with him.

As for Matt and I, Valentines Day was fun. We got to go on a short, but sweet, date to Zupa's. I love that place and I really wanted to go and eat there, so, Steve and Teresa came over and watched the boys so that we could go. Matt got me some yummy chocolate's from See's... he knows what I like! :) Matt's work has picked up a ton this month. He has been working almost everyday which makes us very happy because that just means we are even closer to getting our house. I am so thankful to have Matt. He is so helpful with everything and I don't know what I would do with out him. I went back to work yesterday (the 28th) and I had a lot of fun. It was really nice to get out of the house and go and talk with the girls that I work with. Right now I am only going to work 2 days a week, so it will pretty much just be a getaway for me. I am also starting to do a lot of crafts. I have started some modge podge frames for the boys, and I am doing a scrapbook calendar for all of Colton's milestones. I got a sewing machine for Christmas.... so I might attempt to learn how to use it. I will probably break it just trying to get it to turn on... so wish me luck!

Oh and this is Colton's 1 month picture! Ha ha love the socks!

They grow so fast!

Today is Colton's 2 week birthday and I can't believe how fast the time has gone by. I can still remember when Kaden was only 2 weeks old and now he is almost 3! They were not lying when they said that time flies when you are a parent. But I took Colton to his check up today and he is doing so good. He now weighs 6lbs 5oz and he is 19 1/2 inches long. He did so good at his visit, but he did not enjoy getting poked in the foot for the PKU test and he was pretty mad at me for a while... I have never heard him cry like that before. But he is a champ and now he is sound asleep. I just love him. So far he has been perfect for us, the only thing that is hard is he gets horrible gas tummy aches at night time so we are up a lot (fortunately it's not every night). But the upside to the gas is all the cute smile's that we get out of him, so there is a positive to everything. He is also very patient with all the things that Kaden does to him such as: squish his nose, poke his eyes, squeeze his head, and force the binky into his mouth. Ha ha, oh Kaden! He just loves his baby brother and he really likes to help me do things for Colton.

Kaden Has been doing really good, too. He is very helpful around the house and loves to help me throw things away and do the dishes. He knows the whole "Clean Up" song and insists on singing it anytime there is a mess to be picked up. He loves singing songs (itsy bitsy spider, popcorn popping, Up on the housetop, twinkle twinkle, the ABC's, etc.) and reading books. He can count to 10 on his own and is getting really good with the alphabet. He likes to play games on the computer and on Matt's phone, and we build new train tracks for his Thomas the train every day. He has so much fun playing with trains. Kaden is very smart and it is so much fun to watch him try and figure something out, such as: "Why is the DVD player not working? I only put 4 movies in it!".....grrrr!! And he is always wanting to put new batteries in his toys because he insists that they are broken. One thing that he is doing right now that I just love is rubbing his tummy saying "Mommy, my tummy hungeee!!" HE IS SO CUTE! But let's be honest, all cuteness aside, he is a handful. He refuses to get dressed, to have his diaper changed, to take naps (but will only if we sing 3 songs and read a book) , to get his shoes on, to walk down the stairs alone (stubborn!), and he fights us to take a bath. But I guess that is all part of the 2 year old experience...... RIGHT?!?! :)

As for Matt and I, we are doing fabulous. I am still working part time at the OB/GYN office and I love it there. I am having a hard time being on maternity leave because I miss the alone time, but I love spending time with kaden and colton, too. Matt is still doing carpet, but he just started selling it, too. He has been working really hard, and a lot, so that we can get a house in the fall. SO EXCITED!! But other than that we are just busy being parents to 2 of the cutest boys in the world. :)

Baby Colton has finally arrived!

Early in the morning on January 4th our cute little boy made his grand entrance.... 2 weeks early! Colton Brady Michels was born at 7:46 a.m., he weighed 6 pounds 2 ounces and was 19 inches long. Not only is he perfect, I had the most perfect labor and delivery. Got to the hospital at 6cm and quickly got to 10cm about an hour and a half later. He was delivered after pushing 3 times.... which I am very thankful for after not getting any sleep for 24 hours straight. He said hello to me by peeing right in my face... I guess he is just like his big brother whom pooped all over me. Boys. But he is so sweet and mellow. He hardly ever cries... I mean NEVER! He has tons of hair and very tan skin, opposite of Kaden, but still just as handsome. And Kaden just loves him to death. Any chance he gets he gives him a kiss and rubs his head, and he is such a good little helper. But it has definelty been a major adjustment going from one child to two. I am still trying to figure out how to spend equal amounts of time with each of them, while still having time for myself. But Matt has been a big help and plays with kaden a lot. We are so happy to have him in our family and we can't wait to see all the fun things he is going to do as he grows up. ***These pictures were done by my friend Savannah. Colton and I went over to her house and had a little mommy and son photo shoot. It was so much fun and she did a great job with the pictures. Thanks Sav!

Wow.. It's been FOREVER!

Hey Everyone..... did you forget about us?? I bet you did, it's been a really long time since my last post. So much new, fun and exciting things are going on. The most exciting is BABY # 2!!! We can't wait to meet our new LITTLE BOY in January!! It is so weird being pregnant for the 2nd time, you almost forget that your pregnant because there are so many things going on. But we are so happy and can't wait! Kaden is now a little over 2 years old and he is such a cute (but crazy) kid. He has a ton of energy and loves to play and go on adventures. Right now he LOVES trains, seeing the horses with Papa, going to the park, Buzz and Woody from Toy Story, eating cake (pancakes), and going to Mcdonalds and pretending that he is a dog ha ha. He is talking a lot now, and making up a lot of his own words. It is so cute to listen to him. This summer has flown by and we have done a lot of really fun things. We went to Bear Lake over the 24th and had a great time with Matt's family. It was fun to watch Kaden do things as a big boy. We liked to go and hop the little waves and play with the sand toys. Alright, all this updating has made me tired..... LOL. To be continued..

I have been thinking a lot lately about how thankful I am for my cute family. Not just Matt and Kaden, but for everyone. So, I want to talk about the people and the things that I am thankful for. Matt is a great father and husband, his laugh is the greatest and he is very passionate. My Grandma is my very best friend and I am so thankful for her. She helps me with Kaden whenever I need it, she listens to me when I need someone to talk to or need some advice, she makes me feel so loved and special. I love her more then anyone will ever know. My grandpa is the funniest man I know. I love the random conversations that we have and how cute he is with Kaden. My mom is a special woman! :) We have had our moments of not getting along, but I know that she loves me and she is a great Grandma to Kaden. My dad is my hero, anytime I think about him my eyes start to water. He has ALWAYS been there for us girls and I know that I can always count on him. Suzanne is an amazing person, she has always made me feel like I am one of her blood daughters. She goes out of her way to make everyone feel loved. My sisters are my best friends, I love them so much. Steve and Teresa are amazing and I am so happy that I get to call them family. They are great examples to me, and I love that family is #1 to them. Melanie and Paul are the sweetest couple that I know. They are so happy together, and they have an amazing love for the gospel. Kevin is the strongest person that I know. Nothing gets in his way and I am so proud of him for going on a mission. Brad is the coolest kid on the block! :) And Haylie.... there aren't enough funny words to explain how I feel about her! She is such a goofball and I love it. I love her as if she were my real sister. I am so thankful for my best friend Cassidy, she has always been there for me. I love that we have shared memories together as children and as adults with many more to come! I also am very thankful for Toddy and the whole Saxey family. They have an amazing family, and have always been very loving towards me. And last but not least.... I am so thankful for my son. I would be nothing with out Kaden. He is the most important thing to me and he has made me a better person. The other night Kaden was really sick and I was having a hard time because he was throwing up every where and would not stop screaming at 3:30 in the morning. I was so frustrated. So I went and got a blanket and pillow and layed on his floor while he layed on his bean bag and watched his favorite movie. Just as I started to fall asleep Kaden came and layed down next to me and then turned around and gave me a kiss. It was the most special thing that has ever happened to me. It was like he was telling me 'Thank you, mom for being there for me." These are the moments that make everything worth it. And now I am crying.... I am such a mom! So I am thankful for my giant family and special moments with my baby. I love my life and I wouldn't change a thing!
