Wow! This past month has been quite a roller coaster ride. We have had some fun experiences and some scary one's. Let's just start from the beginning. We went over to Matt's parent's house for the Super Bowl (let's be honest though, I did not watch it!) and it was a lot of fun to spend time with the whole family. We had a lot of good food (that is what I was really interested in!) and Kevin and I had a good time commenting on every single picture on Matt's Facebook..... "Right?". LOL.
On the 10th I took Kaden in to see his doctor because he had a really bad cough and was complaining that his throat "horted". He insisted on wearing his Buzz Lightyear PJ top and it was so cute watching him pretend to be Buzz while we were there. He did so good standing on the scale and getting measured (we told him that Buzz would do it!). He weighed 29 lbs and was 3 foot 1 inch tall. Then we found out that he had croup.... poor guy! :( We couldn't really do anything for him, we just had to let it run it's course. But the doctor told me that taking him outside at night would help him to breath better, so that night at 4 a.m. I took him out on the freezing cold steps and held him for almost an hour because he could not stop coughing. The things we mother's do for our children. :) A few days later Colton started to get a weird cough, and was acting very lethargic, so we took him in to the insta care on the 13th. He had RSV. When the doctor told me that I almost died. I have only heard horrible things about RSV and he was only 6 weeks old. So they suctioned his nose (saddest thing I have ever seen) and told me to take him back to see Dr. Erickson the next morning. For the next to days I was going up to that office twice a day for him to be suctioned, I was not sleeping at all because I was paranoid that he would stop breathing and I was still taking care of sick Kaden. I was EXHAUSTED!! So I finally broke down and that is when they decided that it would be a good idea to admit Colton into the hospital. He was needing to be suctioned so often and his numbers were getting lower. So I took him to the Riverton Primary Children's and watched my little baby get hooked up to machines and monitors and prayed that we would not have to be there long. Well, we were. Colton ended up being there for 6 days. Those were 6 of the most emotional, frustrating, scary, sad, happy, boring, lonely days of my life. He was being suctioned (they stick a long tube down his nose into his throat and suck out all of the snot, for the lack of a better word) every 3 hours and it was the saddest thing to watch. We called him the "Cement Boogar Factory" ha ha because he made A LOT of really thick boogs. He was put on oxygen because when he would sleep he would pretty much stop breathing, and he ended up needing it all the time cause he was having a hard time breathing when he was awake, too. But the nurses there were amazing and I will never forget them. They loved Colton and loved to come in and hold him. There was one nurse named Cory that just loved to cuddle Colton and he even asked me if he could feed him for me at night... I did not object ha ha. But he was so helpful and gave me a lot of pep talks. He was awesome. I also loved Katie, Brian and Cameron. I got to know them all quite well because I never left that place and I wanted to make some friends so I didn't go insane! :)
One day Chani and my grandma pulled an intervention and kicked me out so I could go and see Kaden. It was hard to leave, but I did. Kaden and I had a lot of fun and it was cute to see how excited he was to see me. I took him to Walmart and got him a new car toy and then he requested to go and see "colken". When we got to the hospital we were getting out of the car and the wind was so strong that it blew away a Cookie Monster balloon that Kaden wanted to give Colton. Let's just say that memory is one that Kaden will never forget. He could not stop talking about how cookie monster "blowid away". So cute. And on the last night that I was there he and Matt came and brought me some cake and I met them out at the truck. He told me to "sit down, mom!" so I did and then he looks at Matt and said "DRIVE DAD!" like he was trying to kidnap me. He just missed his mommy! :) I love him so much. Finally on the 21st I got to bring Colton home. I have Heavenly Father and all of our friends and family to thank for that. They all prayed and fasted for Colton to get better on Sunday and my dad and Steve gave him a blessing. Prayer works, and so do blessings. Coming home was weird, but it was good to be back. I missed Matt and Kaden a lot. They are both feeling better now and things are pretty much back to normal. SIGH OF RELIEF!!
Kaden had his first dental appointment on Feb.24 and he did so good. He let them clean and count his teeth with out any fighting (I was completely surprised!) and he even let the dentist clean his Buzz Lightyears teeth. After we were done there I took him to Barnes & Noble so that he could play with the Thomas train set and then we ate a brownie at the cafe. He is getting so big. I love spending time with him.
As for Matt and I, Valentines Day was fun. We got to go on a short, but sweet, date to Zupa's. I love that place and I really wanted to go and eat there, so, Steve and Teresa came over and watched the boys so that we could go. Matt got me some yummy chocolate's from See's... he knows what I like! :) Matt's work has picked up a ton this month. He has been working almost everyday which makes us very happy because that just means we are even closer to getting our house. I am so thankful to have Matt. He is so helpful with everything and I don't know what I would do with out him. I went back to work yesterday (the 28th) and I had a lot of fun. It was really nice to get out of the house and go and talk with the girls that I work with. Right now I am only going to work 2 days a week, so it will pretty much just be a getaway for me. I am also starting to do a lot of crafts. I have started some modge podge frames for the boys, and I am doing a scrapbook calendar for all of Colton's milestones. I got a sewing machine for Christmas.... so I might attempt to learn how to use it. I will probably break it just trying to get it to turn on... so wish me luck!
